Beatles 1 (Top 27 Hits!)

The Complete Beatles

As the creator of this WEB site, it is important for me to be accurate. I've used a lot of resources to check and double check material. Frequently I am sent e-mails to answer questions about lyrics and performances. However, my favorite is The Complete Beatles. It comes as Volume I (1962-1966) and Volume II (1966-1970). This version includes BOTH Volume I and II. Each volume includes the musical history and Discography. Additionally, each includes interviews and stories followed by roughly 400 pages of sheet music. If you truly love The Beatles AND their music, this YOU must OWN. Order by clicking the hyperlink above. This makes a great gift, too!

The Beatles - From Yesterday to Today

This collectors edition from Life magazine includes many photos from Life's archives as well as many from Linda McCartney's own collection. There are four parts to the book: Remember, Yesterday, Today and Imagine. Imagine has fantastic photos by Shimon Attie as he projects old time photos of the lads on their old stomping grounds. For those of us around then, great memories. For the youngsters, a great way to Meet the Beatles.

The Beatles - The Ultimate Recording Guide

The first 200 pages are a general chronology beginning "1902, Jul7: James McCartney, father of Paul McCartney, was born." Then there is the recording chronology, U.S. then U.K. discography, Special release then bootlegs. It is wrapped up with an appendix including the boys as supporting players to other groups (for instance: "Woman" (McCartney [billed as "Bernard Webb"]);Peter & Gordon; released U.S. Jan 10, 1966; U.K. Feb 11, 1966) and an appendix of videos and laser disks. And if that isn't enough detail, the index is 33 pages of teeny tiny type. Not just a reference book but a real kick to find interesting details you never knew existed.

Lennon: The Definitive Biography

As a resource book for these WEB pages, this book has been key to the success of this site. With nearly 30 pages of index plus a discography and chronology, it is easy for me to answer questions. Why would you want it if you don't need a reference book? Because it is great reading if you have any interest at all in the Beatles. Coleman's insight into John as a friend is rare among other biographies of Lennon. Because of this friendship, he had the unique cooperation of many of John's friends and relatives (i.e., Mimi). If you were there to watch the Beatles emerge, explode into popularity and then breakup, you will learn a lot about John Lennon. If you weren't there, meet a great human being, warts and halo.

The Ultimate Beatles Encyclopedia

Just received this for Christmas. Wow! Wish I had it sooner. It's in alphabetical order just like any encyclopedia. Includes hundreds of biographies, details about where they played, who they knew, what they did. Hundreds of photos. Over 700 pages. Great reference but interesting to flip through and read about people and places you never heard of.

Here's some books purchased by those who have been here before you.

In My Life : Encounters With the Beatles

This is not a biography of the Beatles but how the Beatles affected others. The "others" include Tom Wolfe, Allan Ginsberg, Leonard Bernstein, Timothy Leary and more. It is their short fiction, poetry and essays that you will find here.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Beatles

Are you a new Beatles fan. Do you have a relationship with someone who doesn't understand your passion. Then this is the book to get to bring them up to speed quickly. The author, Richard Buskin, is an internationally-known Beatles authority.

The Beatles

Sub-titled the "only authorized biography of the Beatles". The first edition was written during the Beatlemania period. The author was there. He personally interviewed the fab four. This is a must have book. Look at the rave reviews of those who bought this book.

Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now

You MUST have this book. A lot of research by Barry Miles debunking a lot of myths (and put-ons by the Beatles the press took seriously.) Paul offers insights into each of his songs and John.
